My personal definition of hospitality [http://entertaining.suite101.com/article... identifies the practice of making someone feel welcome in whatever the situation is. For instance, a teacher can make her students feel welcome in the classroom by encouraging them to take ownership of the space. On the other hand, a teacher can make her students feel distanced and uncomfortable in the learning space, and they will spend the year feeling like they're walking on eggshells. Does this shed any light on your question?
