EntertainingWhat Is Hospitality?
»
My personal definition of hospitality [http://entertaining.suite101.com/article... identifies the practice of making someone feel welcome in whatever the situation is. For instance, a teacher can make her students feel welcome in the classroom by encouraging them to take ownership of the space. On the other hand, a teacher can make her students feel distanced and uncomfortable in the learning space, and they will spend the year feeling like they're walking on eggshells. Does this shed any light on your question? ~Janice » Barbara Bell - What is hospitality? In response to What is hospitality? posted by Soup2Nuts:When I was a girl, I earned the "Hospitality" badge in Girl Scouts. In fact, it was my mother who came to the meetings and shared with the troop all the aspects 10-year-olds could grasp of the concept. When I think of hospitality I think of her. She always put herself in the shoes of the other person, and treated guests as if they were family and family as if they were treasured guests. She loved to entertain, and her house was warm and welcoming. Hospitality, then, could be defined as making others feel comfortable no matter what the situation might be. It includes respect, sharing, kindness, and tolerance. Does that help answer your question?
