- Class Reunion Picnics - ice breaker

One of the best ice breakers I've seen used was at a dinner party for a new group in a consulting firm. Many people knew each other in work context only and many were completely new to the group.Reunions are often painful for partners and spouses...who listen to endless "whatever happened to so and so?" or "remember the time when....?" having no connection to either topic.
I think this might be adaptable to a reunion. At the beginning or before the evening, we were asked to write down one unknown fact about ourselves that we were comfortable sharing with the group. Then at some later point, we each had a fact about someone in the group that we read aloud and attempted to assign to its owner. I think there was some prize for the person who guessed correctly or for the one that most people figured out, or the one who stumped everyone.
It was a fun way for people to share their other selves with the group. I'm sure a fun or naughty twist could be added for the reunion group, but be careful, you have to know the group well if you venture in that direction.

great idea, and you're right -- it could be applicable for so many types of functions.
