Thank You Notes from Kids

An Update from the Homecoming Dinner

There is a timeliness to sending thank you notes.

Since my last several blogs and articles have focused on writing thank you notes and on hosting and reflections on the Homecoming Dance dinner and post-dance party that we hosted, it was somewhat ironic that yesterday's mail contained an envelope that pertained to both topics.

I received a lovely note from one of the high school girls that attended the parties at our house. It was short and to the point, but well crafted in the sense that she identified why she was writing, that she appreciated our efforts, and that she had a lovely time. She personalized it by including one line about a specific event that occurred at the party, and by doing so, she took her note from a rote, mass-produced letter to one with graciousness and appreciation.

I'm adding her note to my file on Thank You Notes, and I encourage you to help your own kids to rekindle this gracious but almost extinct habit!
