Since we entertain frequently, our family cats have learned the ropes of being good hosts.
Being in the Chicago suburbs we are centrally located across the country, and end up hosting overnight guests very frequently. We've got a nice guest room and guest bath to accommodate our friends and relatives, but what really keeps bringing them back are our two delightful cats.
Maple and Sugar are Bengals, and in addition to being absolutely gorgeous, they LOVE to be around people. "The girls" (Maple & Sugar) have learned to greet our guests at the door, "talk" with our guests (Bengals are very vocal cats), and even share sleeping quarters with our guests. To date, we've only had one guest with an allergy to cats, and we handled that situation by closing off the guest room to the girls.
So, instead of viewing pets and guests as a nuisance, take the opportunity to make it a synergistic situation.
