Easy Half Time Menus

Not sure exactly when half time is going to occur, and therefore when everyone is going to want to eat? Here's some great menu ideas to answer everyone's needs.

The crockpot is the savior of every busy mom, and it can do double duty as a casual weekend meal server, when you're not sure when dinner will actually occur. Stew, hearty soup or chili are great entrees to hold indefinitely in your crockpot. Be creative and make your own soup from scratch, or cheat a little and purchase some shredded pulled pork at your local BBQ restaurant. Either way, use your crockpot to keep the entree at the ideal temperature, until everyone's ready to eat. Add fresh bread or rolls, a tossed salad and a loaded baked potato, and you've got a full meal ready to go in an instant. (keep the baked potatoes at serving temperature indefinitely by wrapping them in foil and keeping them in a 200 degree oven).

Try these entrees in your crockpot

  • BBQ pork (served in sandwich rolls)
  • Chili (served with chopped onions and shredded cheese on the side)
  • Italian Beef (in your grocer's freezer) served with Italian rolls
  • Sloppy Joes (served in hamburger buns)
  • Clam Chowder (served with oyster crackers)
  • Meatballs in Marinara Sauce (served in hoagie rolls)
