Cranberry and Floral Centerpiece

Thanksgiving and the holidays aren't complete without seasonal cranberries. Here's another great use for Vaccinium macrocarpon.

In addition to the Frosted Ice Glass Cranberry Votives, you can use cranberries to make a floral centerpiece.

Simply place carnations or any fresh flower that you have into a clear glass vase. The stems should be cut so that the heads of the flowers are placed just above the top of the vase. Carefully pull the flower heads away from the rim of the vase, and pour in fresh cranberries. You will want to fill the vase almost completely with the cranberries, leaving only an inch or so of open space at the top. Pour in water just to the level of the cranberries, so that the floral stems have access to the water, but the cranberries are densely packed enough that they won't float.

This simple, inexpensive and effective centerpiece looks great with white or yellow flowers.
