Back to School is always such a fun time ---- well, at least for parents! Candidly, I used to love the beginning of the school year, when I was a kid. I would excitedly open the school registration materials, dig out the school supply list, and beg my mom to take me to the store. I loved selecting all the brand new materials --- the Crayolas all had untorn paper wrappers and the colors hadn’t yet mixed, the Pink Pearl eraser was still perfectly shaped and didn’t have any pencil marks on it, and of course, all of the loose leaf filler paper was crisp and clean, and wasn’t yet dog-eared.
Well, even though my own kids don’t cherish our annual school supply shopping trip like I used to, I still make a big deal out of the whole adventure. We pick the new spiral notebooks – coordinating the colors with the subject matter and selecting matching folders. We make the difficult decision between white glue, clear gel glue, or the ever-popular glue stick. And finally, we get to the Holy Grail of school supplies ---- the new lunchbox! We make the choice between the hard plastic, cartoon-based lunchbox, the thermal insulated, non-descript bag, or the group of eco-friendly, reusable Rubbermaid containers.
