What does aromatherapy actually mean and how does it relate to entertaining?

Did you know that the word aromatherapy was first used by a French biochemist in the 1930s? However, aromatherapy has been around for thousands of years. It refers to the combining of specific, essential oils to produce appealing aromas and healing properties.

So, how does this relate to entertaining? Well, don't forget that the fragrance that you surround your guests in, will set the mood as much as decorations, music and food will. So, set the desired mood for a holiday party with a rich, warm, spiced aroma. Create an uplifting atmosphere for an afternoon tea with a light, sweet scent. Host a breakfast or brunch and surround your guests with an invigorating, uplifting aroma.

My next article will give details about my favorite aromas and how I like to use them at this time of year to assist with entertaining.
