This Party Planning and Easy Entertaining Tip shares another trick to make your event "sing."

With the advent of genre-based music stations, every host can create a custom ambience for his or her next social gathering.

Satellite radio (XM, Sirius, DirecTV, DISH Network) and digital radio (from your local digital cable provider) offer a multitude of commercial-free, thematic stations that will fill your event with fantastic music, without forcing you to swap CDs every half hour.

  • Cinco de Mayo celebration? Try the Tejano station.

  • Small gathering for dessert? Try the light classical station.

  • Group of guys over to watch the game on your big screen TV? Try Arena Rock.

  • Casual summer party? Try some 50s music or even a little Bluegrass.

Just have fun with your selections and use your creativity to make your events "rock."
