Football-themed party games should be kept simple, so that they do not interfere with the Super Bowl. Additionally, keeping the Super Bowl party games easy will not burden the host or hostess, so they can enjoy the party, too. The following football party games are easily played by party guests of all ages.

Super Bowl Bingo Game

Super Bowl bingo is a football game that is easy to make and requires very little time. On a sheet of paper, make a 4 x 4 grid. In each square, write something that could happen during the game. Make sure that each board is not a duplicate, or everyone will end up with the same result. Ideas for the squares include:

  • AFC Interception
  • NFC Passing Touchdown
  • AFC Rushing Touchdown
  • NFC Sacks AFC Quarterback
  • Penalty for a False Start
  • Facemask Penalty

The first person to create a Bingo wins a prize.

Super Bowl Player Potluck Game

In making this game, the host or hostess will need multiple small slips of paper and a handful of small party prizes. On the small slips of paper, the host of the Super Bowl party should write the names of individual players. The names should represent all of the major players of each team, such as the quarterbacks, running backs, prominent defensive players, kickers, and wide receivers. There should be at least one slip, preferably two, for each guest at the Super Bowl party. Prior to the party, label the prizes with actions that could happen during the game, such as:

  • Rushing touchdown
  • Passed for a touchdown
  • Received a passing touchdown
  • The most rushing yards
  • The most receiving yards
  • First player to sack a quarterback
  • First player to cause a penalty

At the start of the game, place the slips of paper in a hat and have each Super Bowl party guest should draw a slip or two. When the action on the prize happens during the football game, the person with the name of the player who performed the action wins their prize.

Set Up A Super Bowl Pool

One of the most popular games at a Super Bowl party is a pool game. While most Super Bowl pools involve money, it isn't necessary for those who wish to keep the game free. Instead of using money, an overall prize could be substituted. Here are the steps to making a Super Bowl pool game:

  1. Draw a 10 x 10 grid on a sheet of paper.
  2. Write numbers 0-9 across the top of the grid, with one number for each square.
  3. Write numbers 0-9 down the left side of the grid, with one number for each square.
  4. Write the name of one of the teams in the Super Bowl at the top of the grid, and write the name of the other team on the left side of the grid.
  5. Determine the cost of each square, for instance, $1.00.
  6. Sell each square to people, writing their initials in the square of their choice. Most players will buy more than one square, and it is best to sell every square on the grid.
  7. At the end of the game, determine the winner by matching the last digit of each team's final score with the grid to decide the winner. For example, if the team at the top has a final score of 21 and the team on the side has a final score of 13, that would mean finding the square where 3 on the vertical scale meets 6 on the horizontal. The person whose initials are in the square where those two numbers meet wins all of the money.
