Pumpkin Floral Centerpiece

Learn to create a charming and simple autumn centerpiece made from a pumpkin, some colorful mums or fall blooms, and a tumbler full of water.

If you've just seen the most beautiful pie pumpkin -- round, firm and a gorgeous orange-copper color, and you can't seem to envision the perfect way to use it for your autumn display --- read on! I'll show you that with just a little bit of time, a cupful of water, and some attractive mums, you can create a show-stopping pumpkin and floral centerpiece.

Supplies

  • 1 beautifully shaped, ridged and colored pumpkin
  • Sharp knife or pumpkin blade
  • Glass or plastic tumbler that is less than or equal to the height of the pumpkin
  • Selection of coordinating mums and/or autumn blooms

    • Directions

  • Wash and dry the exterior of the pumpkin
  • Using a sharp knife or pumpkin blade, cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin (just like the top hole of a standard jack-o-lantern). Make sure that the dimensions of the hole will accommodate the tumbler. Clean out the seeds from inside of the pumpkin.
  • Trim the stems of the flowers, so that the blooms just reach over the top of the pumpkin
  • Place the tumbler inside of the pumpkin. Fill the tumbler with water. Place the flowers in the tumbler and arrange the blooms so that they form an attractive mound at the top of the pumpkin.

    • Your Pumpkin Floral Centerpiece is complete! Refill the water as needed, and enjoy your own creativity!
