These two racing games are sure to please.
The first game requires a drinking straw for each player, two plastic cups, and two bowls the same size (on a table is best). The second game requires two plastic bottles of the same size. Careful with the CupDivide the players into two teams and have each team form a line. If you have an uneven number of players, chose someone to act as referee. Each player is given a straw. Also, give a plastic cup to the person in each team who has been chosen to start the race. The smaller the cup the more fun the game will be The idea of the game is to pass the plastic cup from one player to the next using only their straw which is held in the player's mouth. Hands are to remain firmly clasped behind player's backs. When the start signal is given, the two teams have to race each other by passing the plastic cup from one person to the next until they reach the last member of the team. The last team member has to race to the table and put the cup in the bowl. If the cup is dropped it has to go back to the beginning of the line and be passed along from the beginning. The first team to get their cup into the bowl on the table is the winner. Bottle WaddleBefore the game begins, clear the room and create a start line. For the comfort of the players this game is best played on a soft surface (eg carpeting). On the other side of the room put a marker (say a chair). Divide players into two teams. Place the bottles behind the start line. On the start signal the first member of each team must pick up the bottle and carry it to the marker, round the marker and return to their team. They put the bottle on the floor and the next team member picks up the bottle and races around the marker and home just as the first player did. Each team member takes their turn. The first team to finish wins the games. Sound easy? There's a catch. Players must keep their hands clasped firmly behind their backs at all times. They can carry the bottle in any fashion they wish but just not with their hands. If the bottle is dropped the player must stop, pick it up and continue on with the race. Need more suggestions?
