Are you are one of those lucky people who gets to awaken on a bright weekend morning, next to the love of you life? One morning, surprise them with breakfast in bed.

One morning you awaken early to catch a glimpse of your sleeping mate. As they lie there looking so sweet and cuddly, you just want to squeeze them to death. Instead, while your sweetie is still asleep, awaken them with these romantic breakfast recipes.

Sausages with Grape Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 4 links sweet Italian sausage (about 3/4 pound)
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 3/4 dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup seedless grapes, halved salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley

  1. Boil the sausages in water to cover for 12 to 15 minutes or until no longer pink; drain. Sprinkle the bottom of greased 1-quart baking dish with the shallots.
  2. Arrange the sausages on top. Cover with wine. Bake at 425 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes, turning sausages to brown evenly.
  3. Remove sausages but keep warm. Move the baking dish to the stove on medium-low heat. Whisk in the mustard. Add the grapes, stirring until warmed. Season to taste. Pour over the sausages. Top with the parsley and serve.
Strawberry Empanadas

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 4 tablespoons light brown sugar, divided
  • 2/3 cup coarsely chopped fresh strawberries
  • 1 (8-count) package refrigerated crescent rolls 2 tablespoons butter, melted

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend the cream cheese and 2 tablespoons brown sugar in bowl. Fold in the strawberries. Unfold the crescent roll dough into 4 rectangles.
  2. Divide strawberry mixture among the 4 pieces, spooning onto bottom half of rectangle. Fold dough over and crimp edges.
  3. Bake rolls according to package directions until golden. Brush the cooked empanadas with melted butter, and dust with the remaining sugar before serving.
Cabernet Sauvignon Ice

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 3/4 white grape juice
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice red grapes and mint sprigs for garnish

  1. Combine the water, sugar, and wine in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes; cool.
  2. Add the grape juice and lemon juice. Cover and chill for 1 hour.
  3. Pour into a divided ice cube tray. Freeze until solid (about 4 hours). Place cubes, one at a time, in a food processor. Process until slushy. Serve in sherbet dishes garnished with grapes and mint.
To serve, simply assemble food on a breakfast tray. For extra appeal, add a single fresh lily in a clear vase with water, from your garden. Afterwards don’t be surprised if your sweetie is suddenly willing to do that work around the house that you’ve been begging them for the longest time to do.
