Sausages with Grape Sauce
Ingredients:
4 links sweet Italian sausage (about 3/4 pound)
1 shallot, minced
3/4 dry white wine
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/2 cup seedless grapes, halved salt and pepper to taste
1 1/2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
Boil the sausages in water to cover for 12 to 15 minutes or until no longer pink; drain. Sprinkle the bottom of greased 1-quart baking dish with the shallots.
Arrange the sausages on top. Cover with wine. Bake at 425 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes, turning sausages to brown evenly.
Remove sausages but keep warm. Move the baking dish to the stove on medium-low heat. Whisk in the mustard. Add the grapes, stirring until warmed. Season to taste. Pour over the sausages. Top with the parsley and serve.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend the cream cheese and 2 tablespoons brown sugar in bowl. Fold in the strawberries. Unfold the crescent roll dough into 4 rectangles.
Divide strawberry mixture among the 4 pieces, spooning onto bottom half of rectangle. Fold dough over and crimp edges.
Bake rolls according to package directions until golden. Brush the cooked empanadas with melted butter, and dust with the remaining sugar before serving.
Cabernet Sauvignon Ice
Ingredients:
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup Cabernet Sauvignon
3/4 white grape juice
1/3 cup lemon juice red grapes and mint sprigs for garnish
Combine the water, sugar, and wine in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes; cool.
Add the grape juice and lemon juice. Cover and chill for 1 hour.
Pour into a divided ice cube tray. Freeze until solid (about 4 hours). Place cubes, one at a time, in a food processor. Process until slushy. Serve in sherbet dishes garnished with grapes and mint.
To serve, simply assemble food on a breakfast tray. For extra appeal, add a single fresh lily in a clear vase with water, from your garden. Afterwards don’t be surprised if your sweetie is suddenly willing to do that work around the house that you’ve been begging them for the longest time to do.
