Customize your tablescape with the right choice of table linens, such as tablecloths and napkins. Add levels to create the visual interest that creates impact.
Once you have settled upon your theme and taken stock of your decorating items, consider how you will be using the table surface. Will it be used for decorations only, for a buffet, or as a place to eat? This clarification will impact the shape and size of our tablescape. For a tablescape that is purely decorativeThe vignette can encompass the majority of the surface area of your table. Leave an open area around the perimeter of the table, to allow for people to lean against it or temporarily place their beverage there. For a tablescape on a buffetIf the food will be served from both sides of the buffet (double-sided buffet style), your tablescape will be centered along the midline of the buffet set up. If the food will be served from one side only (single-sided buffet style), the tablescape should be created along the back side (non-service side) of the buffet. For a tablescape on a dining tableThe tablescape will be along the midline of the dining table In the above three types of designs, height is an important element to include and can be accomplished very simply by using levels of varying heights.
