Gift Giving TipsLearn how to Find the Perfect Present for those you Love
Everyone wants to give a gift that is treasured by the recipient, use the following tips to ensure that you get the perfect gift for your loved ones.
Gift giving can actually be very stressful, and suddenly the joy of giving someone a gift is gone and you’re just fulfilling an obligation. Everyone has wandered around the mall or a store at the last minute searching desperately for something, anything, to give as a gift. The end result is you either spend way too much money or you end up with something that isn’t really want the recipient wants. In fact, there are even times where a poorly planned gift can cause hurt feelings. Know Who the Present is ForThe key to buying a good gift, one that will be treasured, is knowing who you’re purchasing the gift for. Think about what the person likes and try to tailor your gift to their personal style. Too many people give and get gifts that aren’t really about them, which can be a little insulting. A really great gift is one that shows the recipient that they mean enough to you that you pay attention to what they like and want to enhance their enjoyment of that particular thing. What’s Your Gift Giving BudgetEveryone has a different budget, and going outside of that budget, either above or below, can cause gift giving problems. You don’t want to overwhelm someone with a very expensive gift when you know that they are financially unable to do the same. You also don’t want to be the one showing up with a cheap trinket from the dollar store when the recipient has purchased a lovely gift for you. Find a midrange price point where you aren’t breaking the bank but you’re not obviously passing off inexpensive, thoughtless items as gifts. Once you have your budget in mind, stick to it. Presents Take PlanningWhatever you do, don’t wait until the very last moment to do your holiday shopping. If you want to wait for the bargains and deals, go right ahead, but have a predefined list in mind when you hit the stores. It’s the last minute purchases that leave you feeling frantic and desperate. It’s also the time when you’re more likely to shell out more than you wanted in a desperate attempt to check another person off of your list. The really organized keep a running list throughout the year, noting whenever someone mentions something they like or need. The old adage is it’s the thought that counts, and this is true if it’s the right thought. Thinking that you just have to purchase a gift is not the right thought. Instead you need to think about the recipient and then buy something that will appeal to them. Thoughtful gift giving leaves others feeling happy and loved and is what the season is really all about.
