Party favors are a perfect ending for many types of events including bridal showers, anniversary parties, baby showers, fund raisers and seasonal celebrations.

Some of the more common types of party favors and take away gifts include customized votives, small photo frames, glassware, pendants and luxurious bath soaps. However, food favors are great alternatives to these more typical gifts and your guests will enjoy savoring the treats after your event.

Candy & Chocolate Party Favors

Small chocolate ballotins that hold just a couple of delicious truffles or chocolates are tasty and attractive party favors. Whether you purchase the ballotins through a fine chocolate maker like Godiva or you hand roll truffles yourself, you can dress up the small foil ballotins with a contrasting ribbon for a beautifully finished look.

Customize the chocolate and candy party favors depending upon your event. For a fundraiser to benefit a local pet rescue organization, use ribbons and wrappings with paw prints or animal prints. If your event is a bridal shower, consider using Fannie May Meltaways decorated with little frosting umbrellas or Frango Mints with a similar decoration. For baby showers, a cute and thematic party favor could be a Topp’s Baby Bottle Pop candy surrounded by blue and pink jelly beans, wrapped in white tulle.

Cookie and Bakery Items as Party Favors

Thematic and artistic cookie treats also make great party favors. A skilled baker can create the perfect cookie ending for your event. Decorating and packaging are important for this type of party favor since the finished cookies can be somewhat delicate, and your baker can make suggestions for preserving the cookies in the safest manner.

As with the chocolate and candy party favors, customizing your cookie gifts adds a fabulous thematic element to the party’s wrap up.

The Artful Baker has some clever ideas to incorporate your event’s theme into the party favors. For a celebratory brunch with your bridesmaids, create party favors designed to mirror your selected wedding party attire. For a corporate meeting, match the company’s logo to the cookie place cards or for a graduation party for your teen, let each guest grab a treat from a basket of cookies that look like mortarboards or even the school mascot.

If the prospect of finding the right thematic party favor is overwhelming your planning stages, revert back to a simple yet no-fail party treat. Fill a small, gusseted cellophane bag with a selection of your favorite cookies in single-bite sizes. The cookies could be homemade chocolate chip cookies, airy meringue cookies, or even bakery-purchased tea cookies. Make sure that the gusseted bags stand upright, and then tie the tops with a festive ribbon and a small tag that thanks your guest for attending your event. It’s simple, classy and tastes great!
