Simple Fun for the Whole Family

These two games are simple and don't require any special equipment, but are oh-so-silly and huge fun to play on any occasion.

Both these games are best played indoors.

The Sock Squad

This game can get quite boisterous and is best played on a carpeted area. Even though it may be a lot of effort, it may be worth clearing the whole room in which you intend playing. If that isn't possible then consider removing any precious or breakable objects and covering any sharp corners on furniture etc.

Before the game begins each player must remove their shoes.

  • write each player's name on a card and place all the cards in a bowl
  • draw out names two at a time to form pairs
  • pairs then spread out around the room so there is plenty of clear space around each pair
  • players kneel down, sitting on their heels, and facing each other
  • a referee will need to blow a whistle or in some other way clearly signal the start of the game
  • all that is required is for each player to remove their opponent's socks
  • the first player to remove both socks from their opponent wins
  • play as many rounds as you like
  • you could give out a lucky-dip type prize for each of the players in each winning pair.

Sir Rascal of the Roundtable

  • everyone sits around a (dining) table making sure there's plenty of room for everyone
  • a cloth on the table with plenty of overhang is ideal for this game
  • the loser of the previous game (for the first game draw a name from a bowl) crawls under the table. They are now Sir Rascal or Lady Rascal
  • Sir or Lady Rascal can do whatever they like under the table
  • they can take off another player's shoes, or their socks, tie their laces together, tickle someone's toes, or knees
  • meanwhile everyone around the table has to keep a straight face
  • the first player to laugh or giggle is the new Sir or Lady Rascal
  • before they dive under the table they have to pay a forfeit (it's worth remembering, when dishing out the forfeits that the new Sir Rascal may seek revenge while under the table).

Some forfeits

  • allow everyone in the room to tickle you without laughing
  • do a chicken impression while doing a lap of the room
  • let the player to your right draw a moustache on you
  • exchange two items of clothing with someone of the opposite sex
  • kiss the most attractive person in the room
  • turn to the person on your left and given them an example of your (sexy) pillow talk
  • hop to all four corners of the room (or however many corners there are!)
